Flange rating basically refers to the amount of pressure
the line/flange can handle.
As per EIL standards, it is available in
150/300/450/600/900/1500/2500 psi. So dividing this figure
by 14.2 , we can get the rating in Kg/cm2.

Basically, It is Pressure rating for which Flanges can
withstand at particular temperature. There are different
standards specifying Flange rating as ASME/ANSI / PN or DN
and they give the max pressure at particular temp. Flanges
can withstand.

Basically it is showing the amount of pressure it can withstand under non-shock conditions. Pressure will decrease under the temperature increases.
