values, which allows to maintain historical records in the
data warehouse more effectively.

Surrogate key is an artificial key which is a system
generated one. It can be created from Oracle using
sequence, can also be created using ETL tools. It is the
unique key is dimension tables. The purpose of using
Surrogate key is to reduce the dependency from underlying
database.
