about microprocessor and microcontroller..

Answer / boobal

Microprocessor can be simply considered as a cpu.
which needs additional i/o ports for communicating with the
external ROM,RAM,TIMER etc.,The main advantage of
microprocessor over microcontroller is there is no memory
constraint.we can decide the memory.

Microcontroller can be considered as a system on a chip
that is it has built in ROM,RAM,TIMER,UART likewise.
since they have internal memory the memory usage is
restricted to a maximum.it occupies less space than
microprocessor because of built in features.

microprocessor:= it is a semiconductor device which is made
by lsi techniques .
it has a ram ,rom ,timer ,counter ,crystal, are different
connected on the board .
it is a one type of cpu .
cpu is the part of the microcontroller.
it is operated on byte wise .
in assembly language programming in processor is complicated
rather than the controller .

microcontroller:= it is a also semiconductor device
which is made by vlsi techniques .
it has a ram, rom, timer ,counter ,usart, parallel input
output ports ,crystal, serial input output ports all the
things are mounted on a single chip which is called a
microcontroller .
it is operated on a bit wise so it has a higher speed rather
than the processor .
assembly language programming is easy in controller rather
than the processor .

Answer / gopi prasad ravada

Microprocessor does not having any limitation on its, to
interface no of i/o devices. But Micro controller having
limited feature to it to built a system.

With micro controller hardware complexity will be less. With
Micro processor hardware complexity is more to built and debug.

Micro controller : Less op codes and more bit handling
instructions.
Micro Processor : More op codes and less instructions to
handle bit manipulations.
