RCCB (residual current circuit breaker)?

Answer / kanupriya
ZCT is a neutral CT which is based on zero sequence current
detection. What happens during leakage, the current in the
phases are not the same & hence the in is not equal to
zero. This difference of current flows into the neutral CT
whicgh trips the RCCB

A ZCT is installed in the Neutral-Earth bonding conductor.
It will initiate a trip only when neutral current is
returned by the Protective Earth conductor rather than the
load neutral conductor. This usually occurs when there is
phase-earth leakage (or fault). This protection only works
effectively in Direct earthed installations (not MEN).
RCCB's operate by monitoring current balance with a CT
around all phases and neutral. A trip is initiated when
current flowing out one phase is not balanced by current
flowing in another phase (or neutral). This occurs when
current takes the return path via Protective Earth
bypassing the RCCB. This system works well in direct
earthed installations or MEN, provided the neutral is not
bonded to earth on the load side of the RCCB.
