Answer / arun
area of a rhomgus is 1/2 d1*d2; it's given d1+d2 = 12
(d1+d2)^2=d1^2 + d2^2 + 2*d1*d2
since diagonals are perpendicular to each other
(d1^2 + d2^2)/4 = 5^2 = 25
therefore, (d1+d2)^2 = 100 + 2d1d2;
which gives d1d2 = 22
so area = 11 cm sq

side of rhombus,a=5cm
diagonals=d1,d2
area,A=1/2(d1d2)
a^2=(d1^2+d2^2)/4=25
d1+d2=12
on squaring the above equation, we get
d1^2+d2^2+2(d1d2)=144
100+2(2A)=144
4A=44
A=11
area=11

Area of rhombus when you know the length of the diagonals
is half the product of the diagonals
Therefore area=(d1d2)/2
where d1 is the length of the first diagonal whereas d2 is
the length of the other diagonal
sum of diagonals =12. so length of each is 6
area=(6*6)/2=36/2=18sq.cm
