b) surgeon and optometrist remain.

I have just answered this question posted on other thread
this is what I inferred from it.

Since Men -> Barry (B), David (D)
And Women -> Ann(A), Cathy(c)

Four Categories of Doctors - > surgeon(Sur), dentist (Den),
optometrist(Opt), general practitioner(GP).

From Statement 1 -> B --- (Den)
From Statement 2 -> D --- (Opt)(GP)
From Statement 3 -> +-> A
V
(Opt)
From Statement 4 -> Cathy(C) is (GP)
From Statement 5 -> Since (Sur) and and [C(GP)] are
married to each other. hence (Sur) belongs to men category.

From Statement 7 -> (GP)---(Opt), from Statement 2 it
is clear that D is either (Opt) or (GP) since Cathy(c) is
(GP) then David(D) will be (Opt). From statement 1 it is
clear that B is not (Den) then he will be (Sur) and henc
Ann(A) will be (Den).

The whole sitting arrangement will be :
C(GP)
B(Sur) + A(Den)
D(Opt)

From here you can see if Ann(A) and Cathy(c) leave the table
then Barry and David will remain whose are Surgeon and
Optometrist.
