Bank Assets are classified into two categories
1) Performing assets 2) Non performing assets
1)Peforming assets:
Performing assets are those assets on which INTEREST/INSTALMENTS are correctly paid by the customer within prescribed time.
2)Non performing assets:
Non performing assets are those assets on which INTEREST/INSTALMENTS have not been paid for a period of more than 90 days.
further the banks are classified based on provisioning into followings:
Standard assets - Performing assets
Sub-standard assets - non performing assets for a - period upto 1 year
Doubtful assets - Non performing assets for a - period of 1 - 3 years
loss assets - Assets which have been considered bad by manager,auditor or officer of RBI.

NPA is the amount which remain unpaid during the period and
a 90 days notification is to be given.If in that period
amount not recoveredor no nterest is to be paid then after
90 days period it becomes NPA.

Non performong assests are those assests which do not
generate any interest on the debit given to a party or any
person who became an insolvant so the person who had took
the loan from a bank does not repay the interest and the
debt in his account becomes non performing asset as such
asset are idle assets for the bank.

Non performing assets for banks are bad debts,recievable
interest and all those assets for which they are creditor.
Note- that amaunt of cash is also NPA which is being used
for day to day transection. becoz that amount is non
performing till it is not invested..

Basic defination of NPA : Non-performing assets is an assets which stop earning to the bank and in turns make loss to the bank. Bank has to make necessary provision depends on security available and also keeping in view the time involves. This assets ultimately liability to the bank over a period of time.

INTEREST FOR THAT LOAN IS NOT PAID BY THE CUSTOMER TILL 90

HI..This is shreya..I m working in dena bank as clerk..i m in probationary period..I wanted to apply for probationary officer exams of various banks.. In the ad they mention that u have to apply through appropriate channel in case u are already employed with psu bank.. What does it mean? Will i have to each time take a NOC from my bank? Wont that make a bad impression of me in dena bank? Also what if i dont tell them that i am currently employed ? How do u guys deal with it??
