Describe the stages of dyeing?
Answer / Prakash Diwakar
The stages of dyeing textiles involve several steps:
1. Scouring - Cleaning the fabric to remove oils, waxes, and other impurities that may interfere with the dyeing process.
2. Bleaching - Whitenening the fabric if it's not already white by using chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide or chlorine.
3. Mordanting - Applying a substance called a mordant to help the dye adhere to the fibers more effectively, making the colors brighter and more vibrant.
4. Dyeing - Soaking the prepared fabric in the desired dye solution for a specific period to achieve the desired color intensity.
5. Washing - Removing any unabsorbed dye from the fabric to prevent it from running or bleeding during subsequent processes.
6. Drying - Air-drying or machine-drying the dyed fabric to its final state.
