suppose area was earlier 100 i.e(10*10) now the area is 169 i.e (13*13)
so the increment in length is 3 units

Let the new side be xx, therefore:

Taking the square root of both sides we get:

Therefore the increase in length is 0.3l0.3l or 3030 of the original length.
