hello every one,
what is the difference between the Kvar and farads, Rating
on Power capacitor is for eg: x kvar, and normal capacitor
is eg: x farads.
what is the relation between these two?

KVAR : stands for Kilo Volt Ampere Reactance , used to
measure maximum reactive power (imaginary) that can the
capacitor stands
Farad : unit of measuring the capacitance of the capacitor
Depends on your source voltage and frequency.
VAR = reactive power = V*I (for a capacitor)
For a capacitor in a steady state AC circuit, V = I/(jwC) =
I/(2*pi*f*C) or I = 2*pi*f*C*V
Substituting, then
VAR = C*(2*pi*f*V^2)
kVAR = VAR / 1000

kvar-kilo volt ampere with reactive component
farads-unit for capacitor
a set of x farad capacitor can develop y kvar capacitor bank
for power factor correction.
kvar-unit of reactive power developed by capacitor bank for
power factor correction
kva2=kw2+kvar2

KVAR is the unit of reactive power which is generally used to magnetise the circuit and power capacitor is one of those equipment which provides reactive power and therefore its mentioned in kvar,i.e. its rating. farads is the unit of capacitor and is used normally to denote the rating of normal capacitor.
