I have seen a few say 25% as an answer to this. But looks
like their math isn't good and is extremeley complex to
have an asnwer of 25% to this question. Consider - Rs.1.00/-
per mango; so 40 mangoes = Rs.40.00/-, implies Rs.4.00/-
extra at the end of the deal. So he's left with Rs.44.00/-
after selling 40 mangoes implies a profit of Rs.4.00/- over
Rs.40.00 = 44/40 = 110% which means his profit is 10%.
Hope this helps...
Thanks.

Actually, question itself is wrong. In question its not
given that how much profit he was gaining earlier which
means if we consider Rs.1 as selling price then his/her
total selling price is Rs.40, but as he's earning 4 extra
Rps. for selling 40 mangoes,so now its Rs.44. But we don't
know his earlier profit, so can we calculate increase in
profit. Because earlier profit may be 20 Rps. or 30 Rps. or
whatever. So increase of 4 Rps. will have different increase
in percent of profit.

c.p=cost price=x,assume s.p=selling price=2
((40(s.p)-40(c.p))/40(c.p))*100=4(s.p)
((40(2)-40x)/x)*100=8
((80)-40x)/x)*100=8
((8000)-4000x)=8x
x=.905
40*c.p=36
profit =(8/36)*100
profit % =25%
