I think DC motor is bigger then AC in size..because as the
voltage is increased, the commutation, and sparking at
brushes increases.

In AC- P = Root3 *V*I (for 3 phases) [ 3 core windings]
In DC - P= 3*V*I (for 3 phases)[6 core windings]
means for getting power sqroot3 times we have to wound
double. making the DC motor size bigger.
one more thing that the loss arresting system & protection
system shall also be bigger in case of DC.

The Dc motar bigger in size because the DC moter consist of Armature winding with commutater and inter pole winding, field winding and shunt winding

For 1phase AC machine P=v*i*cos (thita).
For 1phase DC machine P=v*i.
now cos(thita)<=1.
so for same power rating ac machine must have larger i than dc.
so thick conductor is required,so its size is larger than dc
machine.

i think dc motor is smaller than ac its because in dc motor we can directly take the current from armature where as in case of ac motor it is taken from brushes and slip rings and extra components may include so the motor size is more for ac and it is less for dc

AC motor will be of bigger size because of the alternating nature of current to reduce eddy currents core is laminated & also the outer frame has given a shape for max. surface area to dissipate heat.

i think it has to be AC as to reduce the reluctance for flux the air gap provided gets the size of AC motor greater than the size of dc motor insulation

During the testing of Electrical Equipment the test cables should not touch the equipments. For that testing engineers use to cotton rope to hang the cable from measuring Equipment to testing equipment terminal. Please explain the technical reason for this practice.
