Yes, it is necessary to use cross-over cable to connect to
same type of devices, and here EZ serial switch and hub are
of the same type.

No, as the 2 devices are dissimilar devices we require
Straight Cabling as switch and hub are 2 different devices
we require straight cabling to connect.
If 2 devices are similar then one requires a Crossover
cabling.

yes,we need cross over cable to connect EZ serial switch to another hub but we need straight through cable to connect other type of device. we also used straight through to connect EZ serial switch and hub , this type also going to recognize the connection..
