Sir Power transformer :- (in generating station) Alternator terminals side - Delta HT transmissio..

Answer / anup mohan

I could not understand the question clearly... but.. in generating n transmitting the terminals are in delta... as we need only 3 phases..... but at the other end.. i.e on the distribution end.. the connections are in star/wye... thtas ca.. in addition to the 3 phases we need a neutral... we ve neutral conection only in star and not in delta

Sir Power transformer :- (in generating station) Alternator terminals side - Delta HT transmissio..

Answer / nagarajan

Example 15mva,220/132kv
Star 220kv here phase voltage =line volatge/1.732=127kv
delta 11kv here phase voltage =line volatge.
Because star side we have neutral ,a.insulation cost less and 127kv insulation is sufficient but in this delta we require 132kv insulation.

Sir Power transformer :- (in generating station) Alternator terminals side - Delta HT transmissio..

Answer / kc

To reduce the fault level

The fault on primary side ie Y (LLG)
Will reflect as a LL Fault

So fault current level will b less
No zero sequence current ll b appar on d secondary side

insulation cost is very-very high in delta side compared to
star side.therefor, we keep always star connection in HT
side
