sensitive parts of liner are top area, and bottom area wher
inlet ports are located.
in top area combustion is taking place so it will be in heavy
stress.
and in bottom inlet ports are their when scavenge air enters
this will wear out due to erosion .

i am very much confused about direction of thrust in steam turbine...we have steam turbine of 13 stages,10 stages of impulse and 3 of reaction type....in study manual direction of thrust is towards inlet but on thrust bearing its loading side is towards condenser(exhaust side) wile also dummy ring is present in design which also restrict rotor to move in exhaust side direction not inlet ....
