there are 2 hour glass. one is 13min hour glass. another is

18min..how do u calculate when 18min is passed?

Now start both the hour glasses after 8 min 2nd hour glass
will be empty(8min passed) and 1st hour glass have 5 min
left now invert the 2nd hour glass and let pass the
remaining 5 min left in 1st glass(8+5=13min passed)and at
the same time compare it with 2nd glass now we know with
passing of 5 min in first glass there is 3 min left in 2nd
glass because we have inverted and 5 min left in down
portion now again invert the 2nd glass then the 5 min will
pass so 8+5+5=18min.Thanks.

let A be the 8 hour glass and B be the second glass..start
both glass at a time..
1)when glass A over the remaining mins in glass B will be
A=8 B=5
2)start both glass again..while glass B over,
A=3 B=13
3)start again..while glass A over,
A=8 B=10
so,finally can calculate for 18 mins..

Start 13 min and 8 min hr-glasses together.
1)When 8 min glass is done, throw it and START count i.e 13
min glass has 5 mins left (5 minutes)
2)Then rotate the 13 minute glass and count till it is fully
on the other side (13 minutes) END COUNT

5+13 = 18 mins
