Severity is releated to the application or programs
functionality.
Always Business needs high preference So High priority
issues need to be fixed first at it severely affects the

priority means the level of business importance assigned to an item
ex:defect
severity means the degree of impact that a defect has on the development or operation of a system
so,the impact of the problem on the users,customers and other stake holders is important

tricky question
in real time severity is decided by testing team and
priority is decided by dev tem
so if dev team given severity bug as low priority while
fixing they will consider priority colum only
and fix bug later after high priority bug
so it is up to the dev team when they should fix the bug
but if it is a show stopper they will fix it right then
