Tester should know:

1. What are different types of servers (application server,
db server etc)
2. What are the functions for each type of server
3. How we deploy application on the server
4. Configuration/settings we need to do for the server

Before these , I would suggest you to go through different
systems like 2 tier, 3 tier to get an idea as how the
servers are used.

hi,

a tester should know a minimum knowledge of server because
we will b getting the server path in which we should
work .and we will b not getting the s/w installed in our
sys we will b getting the path of the server on which v
should work.
