There is mainly four quantities in power flow studies viz.
1)Real power(P)
2)Reactive power(Q)
3)Power angle(d)
4)Voltage(V)
Out of these four quantities,
P and d are tightly coupled. This is termed as coupling.It
means for changing P we need to change the d only.Change in
rest parameters(Q,V) will not change P.
Q and V are tightly coupled.It means for changing V we need
to change the Q only.Change in rest parameters(P,d) will
either slightly or not change Q.
P and V are decoupled likewise Q and d.
