Slip ring is used in an induction motor to add external
resistance

I.M are two types.slip-ring and Sq.cage type motors. in
cage motors windings are in the form of short circuited
conducter bars. which have high reactance, due to at the
time of staring they will draw more reactive power and
having less straing torque.
*** in slip ring induction motors we add extra resistance
to reduce drawing high current at the time of starting and
improves starting torque.
**** main use of Slip rings is improving starting torque.

Answer / zakeer
main use of slip ring in IM is to add extra resistance to the motor and to give starting current as well as starting torque , when we use slip ring we have to give these connection to the lrs or grr then only it gets SC

If a generator of generating station produces 100MW rated output then what will be the rating of the step-up transformer connected to it?
Electricty is generated at around 16kV, then step up to 220kV for transmission then steped down to power transformers then DTs and then through the LT n/w it reaches the consumer end. At the consumer end 230V supply is required. So, why is electricity not generated directly at 230V and transmitted?
as we see that in our country the power rating for transmission is always rated in multiple of 11 like 11kv,33kv,66kv132kv. So i want to know wht is reason or logic here.

Some times to change of DOR of a motor, interchange of R & B is not effected and RYB take same current, but interchange of R&Y is effected ie change the DOR. My doubt is what is the problem in motor and how it is happen.
what kind of motor is used for lifting applications
