What are the technical reasons for soaking transformers for
various times before allowing them to pick load after a
fault ?
Answer Posted / japjeev
The soaking process is to determine the sufficiency of the
cooling oil for continuous operation under temperature and
duty cycles.
If an outage occurs placing heavy load currents on a
transformer it must be assured that it will survive without
exploding, melt-down, etc

I have made a 3 phase thyristor full bridge rectifier. But at the moment it is working only for the half bridge operation. Both the half bridges are on operation separately but when i put it into full bridge operation the oscilloscope output is zero. I rechecked that the pulses are correct for each thyristor. what could be the possible reason for this?

A 400 V, 50 Hz, Δ connected synchronous generator has a field reactance of 0.1 Ω and armature resistance of 0.015 Ω. At full load, the machine supplies 1200 A at 0.8 pf lagging. Under full-load conditions, the friction and windage losses are 40 KW and the core losses are 30 KW. What is the machine’s overall efficiency? Ignore any field circuit losses.
