AC electrical system is represented by two types of vectors. Time phase vector (sinusoidal wave) and space phase vector (windings are kept apart at a certain physical distance.
These two vectors are needed to generate a rotating magnetic field and a rotary motion.
An induction motor has these two and hence it rotates. But in transformer, it has only time phase vector and it does not rotate.
