is it possible to run a dc motor on ac supply with good performance.....?

Dc motor cannot be run at good performance when powered by AC supply.. this will result in heavy core loss...
if you really wanted to use both ac or dc suppy for working a motor. you should prefer a universal motor. which is actually an AC series motor with some modifications.. .
