generally now a days power factor is maintained by APFC ( auto power factor control) panel. Here there is a provision for setting the PF say 0.99. Capacitors from the capacitor banks are automatically switched off & on as per the load to maintain the set power factor. As motors are always run through motor control panel. As for the individual motor, we have to maintain the load for a suitable PF. Also C = kVAR / (2 π f V2) in microfarad

We have a couple of oil tanks at our plant. One of them does not have a lightning arrester installed. My question is it necessary to install an arrestor on every tank or will this particular one be covered by the arrestor installed on the ajdacent tank, Since all the tanks are close to each other. Practical condition in 400KV Sub station:- Breaker(open) , isolator(open), Earthing (close) at both end e.g A & B.
