Actually why the transformers ate rated in KVA.?
Answer Posted / santosh bangar
rating of any electrical equipment its depends on how much heating ( by losses) is permissible.
in Transformer , rated output limited by heating and hence by the losses in the transformer
two types of losses in transformer Copper loss( proportional to I) and core loss proportional to V)
we have constant power VI in transformer
if we increase Voltage then current will reduce
and if we increase current then voltage will reduce
we can not go beyond certain limit of voltage ... limited by core loss
and also can not go beyond certain limit of Current..limited by copper loss
means we know what is max voltage and max current and VI is rating of transformer
