While defining ovality, necessarily the form/shape of the object is supposed to be elliptical (generally in piping) and its formula is 2(A-B)/(A+B), where A is the maximum measurement of the object and B is the minimum.
While defining circularity, an elliptical form/shape is not necessary, and a virtual diameter is established, normally through 3D measuring machines. The maximum difference between this virtual diameter and the maximum or the minimum diameter, both wherein the object should fit, is defined as the circularity. If Dv is the virtual diameter, Dx is the maximum diameter, and Dm is the minimum diameter, then the circularity is the maximum of (Dx-Dv) AND (Dv-Dm).
