1.core provides just a path to transfer flux from one winding to other winding (i.e primary to secondary)
2.so, can we use plastic as a core..??
ans: yes.. but it draws more exciting current to produce voltage by transferring flux from primary to secondary (just similar to air core)..
3.how to reduce exciting current..?
ans: by using low reluctance material as a core so that flux can easily pass through it.. ex: iron core, silicon steel etc..,
