Why CT secondary should not be kept open?

Answer Posted / seema

If we kept the secondary of current transformer open, current in the secondary side will be zero, voltage get increased so it will worked as a VT. At the primary side current is maximum so maximum flux will get inducced in the primary side & zero in the secondary side.so, in that case the difference between the primary flux & secondary flux will be more so the counter balance between that 2 flux is impossible.Result will be increased in primary current, increased in core losses.
