What is Virtual Host in Weblogic , how to create it & what

Virtual host is just a kind of alias for IP of the machine on which your weblogic instances or cluster resides.
Can any body tell me how it is useful in increasing the application performance and also do we need to make changes only on admin console in order to configure virtual host?
