It depends upon the switch like L2 & L3
Vlan can be created upto
1)Vlan 1 - Default
2)Vlan 2 to 1001 - Normal Vlan
3)Vlan 1002 to 1005 - FDDI & Token ring
4)Vlan 1006 to 1024 - Reserved
5)Vlan 1025 to 4094 - extended.
