starter are used because of the following reason-
1. to start and stop motor
2. for protection (short circuit protection, open circuit protection, thermal protection, over voltage etc.)
3. to improve starting torque of motor
4. to limit the starting torque

Is better to supply the voltage for static exciter from the auxiliary power source or from the SG terminals? And why?
