What is the need for modulation?
Answer Posted / trupti
What modulation basically does is to combine a (low
frequency) signal with a (high frequency) carrier. Everyone
who wants to 'speak' is assigned a discrete frequency for
his carrier. Anyone who wants to 'listen' to a particular
speaker, simply 'tunes' up to that carrier frequency.
Obviously then, the process of modulation is reversible. In
other words, the signal is simply encoded using the carrier
and is decoded accordingly by the listener
for example:->
One of the main problems with communication is that
everyone wants to speak at the same time. This causes major
headaches for the person who wishes to listen. It is simply
not possible to distinguish one signal from the other due
to interference. Modulation is a way to solve this problem.
