1) What is the compressive strength of concrete
2) What is the tensile strength of steel
3) Why cracks are happening in walls
Answer Posted / piyush singh
1) compressive strength of concrete cube of size 150*150*150
for M20 is > 20n/mm^2 (should be above 20 and in no case <)
M30 is > 30n/mm^2
2) tensile strength of mild steel is 250 n/mm^2 (limit state)
and in working stress 150 n / mm^2
HYSD bars strength is 415 , 500 n/mm^2
HTS bars is 1200 n/mm^2 and for others hts tensile
strentgh is stress corresponding to 0.2 % of strain known
as proof stress
3) cracks in wall occurs due to various action of weather
freezing thawing
sulphate attack
lower grade of bricks
plaster not well cured
