why we using capacitor in single phase motor ?

Answer Posted / mukesh sharma

Because required phase difference angle for a single phase
motor should be 180 degree.
so, 90 degree legging due to inductor (because motor winding
is inductive) & 90 degree Leading due to capacitor so,
total Phase difference = 90-(-90)=180 degree
