Restart Logic...
- There is only one commit or rollback before termination of
transaction.
- suppose a application program is processing 1 million
records and the program abends at 90th thousand record. so
after restart of the program it is going to process all 90
thousand successfully but not committed records once again.
then this will became a problem..
- so when ever we are doing such huge updation we need to
use commit frequency properly. Let us say we have design
application commit frequency at 1000 record. If the program
abands at 1500 record it should get restart at 1001 record.
this is called as restart logic.
- for that create a temporary table with dummy record and
insert a record in the table for every commit with a key and
occurrence of the commit. this should happen just before the
issue of the commit.
- then the first paragraph from the procedure should read
last record from the table and skipped all the records that
are successfully processed and committed (1000th record).
After the processing of all the records, delete the entries
in the table and issue one final commit.
correct me if i am wrong
thanks
