Electricty is generated at around 16kV, then step up to
220kV for transmission then steped down to power
transformers then DTs and then through the LT n/w it reaches
the consumer end.
At the consumer end 230V supply is required. So, why is
electricity not generated directly at 230V and transmitted?

WE KNOW ,P=VI AND P=V^2/R SO AS WE INCREASE VOLTAGE THEN LOSSES ARE VERY LESS FOR EXAMPLE IF WE TRANSMITED 10 VOLT THEN RECEIVED 100/R AND IF WE TRANSMITTED 100 VOLT THEN WE RECEIVED 10000/R.
