1. Why transfomer reting in KVA and Motor in HP

The rating of any electrical device is based on losses
developed in the machine.In Transformer the losses depends
up on only Voltage and current but not on PF, hence the
rating of it is in KVA. In motor the output is mechanical
and mechanical load represented by HP in Watts
