Why 11KV/440V distribution supply use for Domestic use?
Answer Posted / arti
11kV is the transmitted voltage. Voltage is usually
transmitted at higher voltage so as to save the cost of
copper (conductor side).
All the domestic appliances as per Indian standards are
rated at 250V and P-N voltage tapped from a phase of 3-
phase 440V is 250V (440/ sqrt(3)) approx. So 11kV/440V is
used for distribution suply.
