The differences are:
1. Rebate is an outline agreement based on the previous
sales of the customer and is for long term.
2. The settlement of rebate is by CREDIT MEMO and could be
partial or final, but the discount is given then and there
in the sales order.

the condition type DIFF is not triggered in sales order.in the sales order if 2 line items are there from two different plants.for one material it is showing error but for the other it is working fine.what could be the reason?
