AVR is nothing but a automatic voltage regulator.it ill
regulate the field input based on terminal voltage either no
load or full load condition.
if AVR fails in alternator...?
The alternator output we will get only residual voltage at
no load condition based on the residual magnetism.
The residual Approximately for 1 & 3 phase 4 pole alternators:
min:4 V to max: 90 V.
