What is the cause of major loss in efficiency of an IC
engine?
Answer Posted / praveen
The major loss is "heat loss". Efficiency of an IC engine
wrt to the carnot efficiency i.e. max possible efficiency.
Since we are unable to harness all the heat produced into
work, efficiency is very low.
Other reasons of loss of efficiency are as above, valve
timing, friction and all those. but the major cause is heat
loss.
