why we short ckt the secondry vo5tage/
winding in transfr and motor?
Answer Posted / damodarreddy
in case of motor the secondary winding is rotor.if there is
no short circuit in rotor, rotor winding is not a closed
circuit i.e open circuit.in open circuit voltage wil develop
but there is no current flows in the rotor winding it causes
the rotor doesnt rotate.
according to faradays laws of electro magnetic induction
when ever a current carrying conductor is placed in a
magnetic field the conductor will try to rotate.
if there is no short ckt,no cuurrent in winding and then how
to rotate.hence secondary (or) rotor of a motor is short
circuited.
in my point of view

We have a couple of oil tanks at our plant. One of them does not have a lightning arrester installed. My question is it necessary to install an arrestor on every tank or will this particular one be covered by the arrestor installed on the ajdacent tank, Since all the tanks are close to each other. Basically, I want to know that if these arrestors or protection works in a parituclar area of effect or influence. Thanks
