Please explain about FAT? What is the difference between
FAT and SAT?
Answer Posted / ajay
FAT: it is the acronym of Factory acceptance test i.e.
Tests performed under simulated conditions at
manufacturer's place witnessed by approving authority
client/End user.
FAT is performed to check the correctness of the system
being supplied. FAT covers all checks over hardware,
interfaces, logics & control loops and system configuration
as per the procedure defined in FAT document.
FAT is performed for Control/DCS & PLC panels.
SAT: it is the acronym of Site acceptance test i.e. tests
performed under live signals received from instruments
installed in plant during the actual commissioning of the
system at site/ end user's place. During SAT, all live
signals are checked and individual control loops & logics
are performed accordingly.
Once all individual loops and logics are checked, then only
plants process is left to run through control system itself.
