The supply neutral point is eathed by a solid link by the
electic supply company.Hence neutral voltage w.r.t earth is
abut 2 to 3 volts. When the neutral link or neutral wire of
supply company breaks, the neutral point starts folating.
depending upon unbalance of the load on three phases, the
voltage on each phase fluctuates from as high as 350-400V to
as low as 50-100V. As a result of tis voltage apears
fluctuating & lights flicker. It normally results in damage
of power supply in various appliances like T.V.& also
damages motors in fans, mixers, fridge etc. of many
consumers in a building.
