If a car starts from A towards B with some velocity.Due to
some problem in the engine after travelling 30km, the car
goes with 4/5 th of its actual velocity The car reaches B
45 min later to the actual time.If the car engine fails
ofter travelling 45km, the car reaches the destination B
36min late to the actual time .What is the initial velocity
of car and what is the distance between A and B in km ?

the answer is
initial velocity is 25 km/hr
and distance is 105 km
explanation
let distance = xKm and Velocity = yKm/hr
form 2 equations
total time = time from start to first break point+ time
from first breakpoint to destination
(time = distance/speed)
total time fromassumption = (x/y)
for first case
total time = (x/y)+(3/4){36 minutes converted into hrs}
time from start to first break point = (30/y)
time from first break point to destination = (x-30/(4/5y))
{since velocity has decreased to 4/5}
hence
x/y + 3/4 = 30/y + (x-30/(4/5y)) .......... equatiion 1
similarly equation 2 is derived from 2nd case given as:
x/y + 3/5 = 45/y + (x-45/(4/5y)) .......... equatiion 2
solving v get x=105
and y = 25
its seems to be lengthy in reading the solution but trust
me it wont take more than 2 mins to solve the question
