WHAT IS OLTC OF TRANSFORMER? WHERE IS ITS USED EITHER ON
PRIMARY OR SECONDARY SIDE OF TRANSFORMER?
Answer Posted / mayank
OLTC means...ON LOAD TAP CHANGER. It is provided on the HV
side of the transformer. On HV side as the current is less
we can easily( not that easily..) switch over to different
voltage levels thus producing minimum chances of arc
production. While on the LV side as the current is very
large On load tap changing almost becomes impossible.
