what is the diffrence between mcb &elcb?
Answer Posted / pillay
MCB is magnetic or thermal protected over current protection
device. that means if the current flowing through this mcb
exceeds the rating of the mcb it would trip. how fast it
trips depends on how much more than the rated current is
flowing through
ELCB is a device to detect any earth leakage current only.
If the leakage current exceeds the rated current the elcb
would trip off the circuit . The ELCB does not give
protection against overcurrent.

As we use capacitior bank in 3ph ckt for improvement of PF, why not we use capacitor in single phase domestric use, at our house their are many inductive equipments, like fan, mixer, tube choke, air conditioner they also draw PF... by using capacitor can they improve PF. if yes--what are advantage and how to connect a capactor in single ph,and which type of capacitor if no- what are disadvantages.
