Purchases may be cash Purchases or Credit purchases.
If you purchase the goods for cash/ bank then the entry
will be-
Purchases A/c dr
To cash / Bank A/c
If you purchase the goods on credit basis, then the entry
will be-
Purchases A/c dr
To Supplier A/c.
