WHY ARE THE LT GENERATORS SOLIDLY EARTHED WHILE THE HT
GENERATORS ARE EARTHE THROUGH NGR OR NGT??

Answer Posted / subash

in HV Generators with larger ratings the voltage level is
high or the impedance is low hence the fault current is
much higheer. In order to limit the Fault current to the
required level suitable rating of resistance needs to be
introduced between the Generator neutral and Earth and to
protect the insulation of the generator and getting heated
up while fault uccurs
