Pili are hair-like structures on the externals of bacteria.
It has pillin, a proteinaceous substance and helps in
bacterial conjugation.
Fimbrae are also made up of hair-like structures that are
for attachment only and thus increases virulence. Made up of
the protein; fimbrin
They may all occur on gram negative bacteria with few
exceptions
